The arrival of a new team member brought some much-needed change and excitement to the Aria “office” as we kicked off 2021 and inched closer to the year anniversary of our transition to working from home. Our new Account Coordinator, Emily Wisner, has quickly become a vital member of the Aria family, and our first ever to onboard remotely. We are looking forward to eventually meeting Emily face-to-face (hopefully over drinks at an office happy hour!), but for now, I virtually sat down with Emily to learn a little more about the newest member of our team.

Kahler: Tell me a little about yourself. Where are you from? What are some of your hobbies?

Emily: I grew up in the Chicago area and went to college at Boston University to study advertising and psychology. (FYI, Boston is definitely windier than Chicago.) My main hobby is photography, which I’ve done since my parents gave me my first disposable Kodak at two-years old. I also love jigsaw puzzles, which is my go-to activity to de-stress. During quarantine, I graduated college, spent time with family, did a lot of hiking, and am currently living in Baltimore (but I’m excited to be back in Boston once the office reopens!).

Kahler: If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

Emily: I’d like to say somewhere exciting like Paris or Rome, but since I’ve never been to either, I’ll stick with my boring but honest answer. I’m partial to the two cities I’ve spent the most time in—Chicago and Boston. I love being in the city and living by a major body of water. I’m open to living in other places, but those two are my favorites at this point.

Kahler: What is your favorite book and why?

Emily: One of my favorite books is Cathedral, which is a collection of short stories by Raymond Carver. In each story, the author is able to take simple, seemingly mundane moments from everyday life and turn them into a deeply moving narrative.

Kahler: What are you looking forward to most after the pandemic?

Emily: Traveling. After graduating last spring, I wanted to either take a trip to Europe or a road trip down Route 1 in California. But until it’s completely safe, I’ll be wearing masks and staying home!

Kahler: Do you have any favorite accounts on social media you think everyone should follow?

Emily: @everyoutfitonsatc is one of my favorites. It provides an in-depth, creative analysis of every iconic look from Sex and The City. @soyouwanttotalkabout breaks down a lot of social and political issues so they’re easier to understand, while providing well-researched facts to back up each point.

Kahler: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Emily: Black bean burgers with guacamole.

Kahler: If you could have drinks with any famous person, who would it be?

Emily: Barack and Michelle Obama. They’ve done so many amazing things in their lives, and I think they’d have a lot of valuable advice to offer, plus they seem like very down-to-earth people.

Kahler: What is something you want to accomplish within the next ten years?

Emily: I’d like to establish a side-hustle. I’m still trying to figure out what that would be, but most likely something artistic like photography, graphic design, jewelry-making, crochet, etc.
