One of the only upsides of the pandemic is that animal shelters have reportedly been emptied, as many people have decided it is the perfect time to adopt a pet. In fact, a few Aria team members added furry members to their families during quarantine. We thought it would be fun to officially introduce Aria’s new dogs (and one cat): Polly, Maxwell Smart, Darcy and Bernard.

As most of us in the healthcare IT sphere know, telehealth adoption has exploded thanks to COVID-19. In fact, according to a recent survey from our client Kyruus, 75% of patients had their first virtual visit in 2020 and Frost & Sullivan forecasts a sevenfold growth in telehealth usage by 2025.
At the start of the pandemic, Office for Civil Rights (OCR) at the Department for Health and Human Services (HHS) eased some HIPAA security rules to aid with the rapid shift to virtual care, particularly specifically allowing health systems to use non-compliant remote communication technology such as Zoom, Skype or FaceTime without facing penalties. While the move sped up the adoption of telemedicine, it didn’t eliminate the security and privacy risks associated with them.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increased struggle with mental health nationwide, as support systems have changed or dissipated. As folks are cooped up at home and facing national and personal tragedy, many look to social media for comfort and escape.

Just because Aria has (temporarily) gone virtual, that doesn’t mean we left our love of good eats at the office (though, we really, really miss Amarin)! Now that we have entered Phase 3 of the quarantine here in Massachusetts, more dining options are becoming available to us, which helps to take the sting out of this whole “working from home” thing – just a bit. Restaurants have taken a huge hit during this pandemic, and many will not survive the year without the increased support of their local communities. In that vein, I wanted to take an opportunity to profile a few of our team’s local favorite restaurants that are doing their part to keep the Aria crew nourished. Check them out!
