For Public Relations professionals, each day brings new tasks and challenges. It can become pretty hectic, which is why Aria’s upper management team likes to sprinkle in fun activities whenever possible. Account Coordinators (ACs) and Account Executives (AEs) like me are tasked with a variety of projects daily, and though no day is the same, we thought it would be fun to share what a “typical” day at Aria Marketing might look like.

9:00 a.m.: The day starts with a coffee in one hand and computer mouse in the other, scrolling through the list of emails that streamed in after leaving the office the evening prior.

9:15 a.m.: After sifting through emails and replying to anything that needs urgent attention, focus on to-do’s for the day. Many junior (and even senior) employees like to handwrite a list of priorities, though we know other projects will undoubtedly come up unexpectedly throughout the day. Staying organized is an extremely important aspect of the AC/AE position, and there is truly no better feeling than crossing off items on your to-do list!

9:45 a.m.: Check out healthcare-focused e-newsletters, social media feeds and other online news sources for some hot trending topics of the day. With a variety of clients in all sectors of the healthcare industry, there are often opportunities to comment on the daily headlines. These news feeds are also useful as we work to develop timely pitches for clients that are relevant to the journalists we work with.

10:15 a.m.: Monitor for any client coverage that has been secured, and share the good news with clients when it appears.

10:45 a.m.: Meet with the team to discuss a thought leadership pitching strategy. This is the perfect time to bring up an article featured in an e-newsletter that could be perfect to leverage for a pitch. After bouncing ideas off of one another, the full team will likely land on a few topics worth pursuing. Time to add “draft a pitch” to the to-do list!

12:00 p.m.: Lunch time - either packed from home, from the popup next door to the office, or from one of the tasty restaurants in the Newton area.

12:45 p.m.: Manage social media channels for clients by drafting Tweets, Facebook Posts, and LinkedIn posts for each respective channel, monitoring feeds, and ensuring engagement via retweets, likes, and comments.

1:15 p.m.: While working on social media, a client asks for a press release to cross the wire in a few days – time to shift gears again and connect with the team’s Senior Account Executive (SAE) to get going on a press release outline!

2:30 p.m.: Loop back to work on social media.

3:15 p.m.: Ensure all client needs are met for the day and finish up any top priorities. Double check any pending coverage that may have appeared throughout the day. Update the to-do list for tomorrow accordingly.

4:30 p.m.: Happy hour time! Each month, two Aria team members decide on a theme for happy hour and bring in food/drinks to celebrate. Today happens to be the summer kick-off happy hour, featuring a cheese board, strawberry shortcake, and a kombucha tasting. This is a nice break from the busy day and a great time to connect with other Aria team members on their plans for the summer and anything else going on.

5:30 p.m.: Time to head home and rest up for another busy day tomorrow!
